LUTHER MARTIN ON THE GROUPS WHO FORMED THE CONSTITUTION!
LUTHER MARTIN, DELEGATE TO THE PHILADELPHIA CONVENTION AND SITTING ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR THE STATE OF MARYLAND, WAS MOST PRESCIENT IN HIS OBSERVATION THAT THERE WERE THREE GROUPS OF DELEGATES AT THE CONVENTION AND THAT TWO OF THOSE GROUPS COMBINED TO CREATE THE CONSTITUTION. MOST INTERESTING OBSERVATION WHICH YOU WON'T SEE DISCUSSED BY PARCHMENT WORSHIPPERS.
"On June 18 1787, Alexander Hamilton made his pitch for what could only be called a monarchy before the convention in Philadelphia. On or about September 17 1787, Hamilton provided James Madison with a written “Draft of a Constitution” which codified his June proposal. One can only wonder what with Hamilton being on the Committee of Style and Arrangement participating in writing the final draft of the constitution why he would have presented Madison with a different draft at that time. A copy of this draft can be found in the Hamilton Papers in the Library of Congress.
